The Progress of a Broken Heart

For those who don’t know, following my blog post on November 5th, I had a heart attack. I was admitted to hospital as an emergency because my bottom artery was blocked by a blood clot. The clot was cleared and a stent installed to keep it open. Apparently my other arteries were unaffected. Whilst I was released home a few days later, the clot affected one of the valves in my heart, causing blood to flow back into my lungs, resulting in a fluid build up there. This caused serious breathing difficulties which meant I needed to be readmitted to hospital for further treatment. This problem has been successfully treated with diuretics and I am presently at home again. For the record, I think there may be further problems that need tending to, given how I am feeling, but I don’t yet know what they are. I’ll be discussing these with the cardiac nurses during my hospital appointment next Tuesday as well as taking things very carefully between now and then.

 

The amount of personal support I’ve received during this time has completely blown me away. On a practical level, my immediate neighbours have enabled me to traverse this new environment without harm to my home. They’ve fed (and cleared up after) my cats, helped me with shopping and visited me in hospital – all volunteered freely and with good humour. Given that my criminal offence, nearly ten years ago, involved hostile neighbours I am fully aware of how my recent experiences could have resulted in a very different outcome. To say I am grateful for all these kindnesses and help is to put it very mildly, especially as my current neighbours are fully aware of my past. They tell me this no longer concerns them – their assessment is based upon their direct experience of me now. Whilst it may not seem much to them, their attitudes mean a very great deal to me. On one level, it means that I have finally come home after a long period of homelessness. Yet now, from my perspective, this is going to have to be a different kind of home at all levels.

 

Firstly, the ‘home’ of my own body needs to be transformed – I cannot live the way I was living before my heart attack. This is now a life-and-death issue. I need to take all the meds the doctors have prescribed to keep my heart functioning and my lungs clear. I need to stop smoking (not as easy as it first appears). I need to take exercise (and already have a delightful volunteer neighbour stepping forward to help me with this) and I need the time to do all this before I can return to work. I doubt any of the doctors involved with this form of rehabilitation would disagree with me. Yet this needs to be set in a social context.

 

At a social level, I can count myself extremely lucky that my heart attack occurred when it did. If I were living in Iran, I would be being sent home to die due to the lack of available medication to treat heart problems. Given the current situation of the NHS and the UK government’s insistence upon privatisation, the services I received may not be there in the future. For example, there seems to be a suggestion that free prescriptions for those on benefit are likely to become a thing of the past. Those sickness benefits available in the past are not going to be there in the future. My housing benefit is being reduced next month – were it not for the compassion of both my landlady and her agent, I might have been facing a house move now (another reason for me to be deeply grateful). At a governmental level, it would seem that there is far less interest in my recovery. In fact, I find it easy to believe that my government would prefer me dead, such is their determination to reduce the ‘costs’ of my living. So whilst my immediate community supports me to live, my country apparently wants me dead – and I am a minor case compared with those whose own ill-health is far worse than mine. Therefore, I am deeply grateful to learn that there are those who are enquiring whether UK government policies towards people like me are criminal or not. Even if my own ‘value’ fails to meet the ‘life’ criteria, I think these questions need asking if we are to retain any vestiges of being a civilised society.

 

 

One of the problems I have in trying to bring everyone up to date with how I am is the fragmented quality of my awareness now. I experience what happened to my heart on 5th November as the equivalent of a mega-earthquake that is continuing to produce aftershocks in my physical, emotional and psychological landscapes. The structures of my past have yet to be tested for safety. I am no longer certain of where I am going or who I am capable of becoming now, in this new landscape. Any moves I make at present have to be tentative because nothing is certain anymore.

 

What I can be certain of, however, is that the epicentre of my personal mega-quake occurred deep in the subject of women’s desistance. I have not gone back to read the blogs leading up to 5th November because I know they will be filled – both accurately and inaccurately – with the pain and distress of trying to find a way through the social walls of a systemic resistance to listening. These are old, familiar and well-trodden paths that I had to follow many times in prison. Then it wasn’t heart attacks that cut through the barriers to common humanity but my blood-pressure which could register 240/130 during such crises. My BP would keep on rising until I encountered someone who thought I might be worthy of life. By the time such encounters occurred, I had normally been transferred to Healthcare. My heartful mega-quake was no different.

 

Jules replied to my 5/11 blog. In her reply (which I will post here at some point), she met me as one human being to another, following what I had experienced as a prolonged, terrible and abandoning silence in the face of what I was saying. Reading her email sent me into shock. I suspect that it was the impact of this shock that caused the crack in my artery which, coupled with my blood’s attempt to heal the crack through clotting, led to my heart attack. It might sound as though I am blaming her but, believe me, I am not. The compassion contained in her reply meant, in my opinion, that I survived this breaking of my heart. Without it, I probably wouldn’t have lived to write this.

 

Nevertheless, what is clear to me now is that I cannot survive my own desistance without kindness, compassion and a mutual willingness to engage another’s point of view from their perspective. None of our perspectives are going to be perfect but without a conscious capacity for humanity and compassion, we are likely to be unintentionally murderous, regardless of whether it arises from an individual offender; from those engaged within the Criminal Justice system; or as commenters/observers. I’m probably not explaining myself very well here but this might help. As you will see, my post elicited one response which required moderation because it was a personal attack towards me. The respondent had problems understanding that not every offender is a thief, mugger or murderer; that if I have paid the full price society has demanded for my transgression, then I am no longer ‘fair-game’ to blame for all crime; and that, as a desister, I have a continuing social responsibility to contribute to the lawful betterment of my community. As an illustration of the point I was attempting to make, the comment itself was ‘perfect’; so, too, the moderation which implies that there comes a point where such prejudice and hate must cease if a society is to retain its claim to humanity.

 

I support my own viewpoint with the evidence of my willingness to die in order to bring this message home to those who are capable of hearing it. It is a form of experiential teaching/learning like no other for it shows us all how much suffering we demand or require, both of ourselves and in others, before we empower ourselves to say ‘Enough’. What is interesting here is that when we realise and act upon our ‘Enough’, we find ourselves behaving lawfully. Sometimes we may also realise that, in all possibility, our previous failures to act may render us liable, or vicariously liable, to the charge of crimes against humanity.

 

I don’t teach this lesson to make people feel bad about themselves – those who need that lesson cannot hear me at all. No – my lesson is to help those who can hear me to feel good about themselves instead.  Yes, these are terrible tales we are relating – they are enough to break a woman’s heart – but if we can hear them, we can change them as we change ourselves. It’s not about apportioning blame – there is too much of it now to even begin to know how to share it out. It’s about saying ‘Enough’! It’s about saying we will not add to this appalling situation through ignorance, denial or refusal to acknowledge reality but will find other, better, healthier, humane ways to be with each other. It’s about gently removing the weapons of attrition from the hands of the wilfully ignorant and placing that responsibility into the power of wiser, legal and socially responsible minds and hearts so we stop treating each other this way. This is how we learn to feel good about ourselves and what we do. Ultimately, it’s about discovering that, no matter what we may have done in the past, we can all be forgiven… but only when we learn to stop sinning. This is the primal message of desistance and it belongs to us all, offender and non-offender alike.

 

The impression I am getting, in the aftermath of my mega-quake heart-break, is that I am not required to teach this death-centred experiential lesson again. The message I am receiving, from my neighbours and my immediate community, is that I am valuable alive and living amongst them. This blog – as fragmented and perhaps confused as it may be – is an opportunity for me to say thank you to my neighbours and those amazing friends I have made within my social media. If my neighbours overwhelmed me with their kindness when I needed them the most, my astonishing friends have been sending tsunamis of love that render me without words and what feels like an inability to respond. Yet, love demands response.

 

Until my body feels aligned to whatever life-force I must now dwell within to live, I can make no wise decisions about which pathways I need to be following. So I contemplate the aftermath of my mega-heart-break in order to see what needs to be allowed to die back and what can be cultivated to grow in healthier ways.

 

From this immediate perspective, what I can be certain of is that social attrition, cruelty, an absence of mercy and increasing austerity will grow nothing of any worth and is more than likely to destroy any remaining personal creativity any of us might be able to access. Whilst my neighbours and friends offer me the realistic possibility of a continuing life worth living for the benefit of my community, I cannot ignore that my government appears to want me – and all those like me – dead.

 

How am I supposed to respond to such a requirement?

 

Indeed, how is any law-abiding citizen supposed to respond?

 

 

And, finally, my apologies if this is hard to follow – it is, nevertheless, a true reflection of what is occurring within as I wander through the post heart-attack landscape I find myself in.

 

 

So, UK: Exactly How Big A Mess Are We In?

Every so often, there is a shift in collective thinking and new minds are awakened to the collective problems we are facing together. From my observations, it would seem that we have a new ‘class’ who have just joined those of us who have been awake for a while.

It can be a confusing and difficult experience for the newbie, so this is a ‘Cooks Tour’ of the problems I believe we are all facing in one form or another.

1.     Introduction

As humanity enters September 2012, we are faced with some very serious problems that will affect us all. The crisis affecting the global economy is already at lethal levels for ordinary people and is set to worsen in the immediate future as we enter a global food crisis resulting from drought and crop failures around the world. This is already being felt in rising food costs. These are very serious problems that are affecting a rapidly increasing number of British people and are set to get much worse before they improve.

A healthy society facing such enormous problems will look to their leaders for collective solutions. Regrettably, evidence suggests that many ‘solutions’ being passed by the British government at present do not appear to be serving the public and there is increasing opinion that it favours a very small group whose main focus appears to be maximising private profit regardless of social expense.

In order to full appreciate the seriousness of the problem, it is often useful to find and apply recognised measures of healthy behaviour, both in ourselves as well as in others. By looking at healthy measures, we can begin to appreciate how ‘sick’ we might actually be.

It helps to start with people at the top because any problems here will have a flow-down effect upon the population.

2.     Setting the Standards in Government

In the UK, elected members of Parliament are required to adhere to the following, taken (from “The Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament”) :

IV.  General Principles of Conduct

8.  In carrying out their parliamentary and public duties, Members will be expected to observe the following general principles of conduct identified by the Committee on Standards in Public Life in its First Report as applying to holders of public office.[1] These principles will be taken into account when considering the investigation and determination of any allegations of breaches of the rules of conduct in Part V of the Code.

Selflessness

Holders of public office should take decisions solely in terms of the public interest. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends.

Integrity

Holders of public office should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might influence them in the performance of their official duties.

Objectivity

In carrying out public business, including making public appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits, holders of public office should make choices on merit.

Accountability

Holders of public office are accountable for their decisions and actions to the public and must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.

Openness

Holders of public office should be as open as possible about all the decisions and actions that they take. They should give reasons for their decisions and restrict information only when the wider public interest clearly demands.

Honesty

Holders of public office have a duty to declare any private interests relating to their public duties and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the public interest.

Leadership

Holders of public office should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.”

 

Paragraph 10 of the same document goes on to say this:

 

“Members shall base their conduct on a consideration of the public interest, avoid conflict between personal interest and the public interest and resolve any conflict between the two, at once, and in favour of the public interest.”

 

Given that this Code applies to all UK MP’s, it might be reasonable to assume that these requirements form a part of a Social Contract to govern and if it forms part of a contract, then failure to comply results in a breach of that contact. For example, under UK Employment Law, the Contract is deemed to be an agreement between consenting adults and sets down the standards expected of both employer and employee as well as detailing how serious contractual breaches will be dealt with, up to and including dismissal.

Readers are invited to consider whether they have seen any evidence to suggest that this Code might have been broken.

3.     The Social Contract

Who ever is elected to Parliament takes on the responsibility to meet the genuine needs of the electorate. Because this area has always been a matter of interpretation, setting measures that identify these needs can be difficult. There is one simplistic measure that addresses this in general terms: Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

Whilst there are disagreements about how Maslow interpreted these needs, there is general agreement that the first two fundamental needs have remained fairly accurate during 70 years of study. These are:

Physiological needs

For the most part, physiological needs are obvious – they are the literal requirements for human survival. If these requirements are not met, the human body simply cannot continue to function.

Physiological needs are the most prepotent of all the other needs. Therefore, the human that lacks food, love, esteem, or safety would consider the greatest of his/her needs to be food.

Air, water, and food are metabolic requirements for survival in all animals, including humans. Clothing and shelter provide necessary protection from the elements. The intensity of the human sexual instinct is shaped more by sexual competition than maintaining a birth rate adequate to survival of the species.

Safety needs

With their physical needs relatively satisfied, the individual’s safety needs take precedence and dominate behavior. In the absence of physical safety – due to war, natural disaster, or, in cases of family violence, childhood abuse, etc. – people (re-)experience post-traumatic stress disorder and trans-generational trauma transfer. In the absence of economic safety – due to economic crisis and lack of work opportunities – these safety needs manifest themselves in such things as a preference for job security, grievance procedures for protecting the individual from unilateral authority, savings accounts, insurance policies, reasonable disability accommodations, and the like. This level is more likely to be found in children because they have a greater need to feel safe.

Safety and Security needs include:

  • Personal security
  • Financial security
  • Health and well-being
  • Safety net against accidents/illness and their adverse impacts

Although it has been subject to greater disagreement and debate, I include the third hierarchy because it provides a pertinent commentary to the previous two needs:-

Love and belonging

After physiological and safety needs are fulfilled, the third layer of human needs are interpersonal and involve feelings of belongingness. The need is especially strong in childhood and can over-ride the need for safety as witnessed in children who cling to abusive parents. Deficiencies with respect to this aspect of Maslow’s hierarchy – due to hospitalism, neglect, shunning, ostracism etc. – can impact individual’s ability to form and maintain emotionally significant relationships in general, such as:

  • Friendship
  • Intimacy
  • Family

Humans need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, whether it comes from a large social group, such as clubs, office culture, religious groups, professional organizations, sports teams, gangs, or small social connections (family members, intimate partners, mentors, close colleagues, confidants). They need to love and be loved (sexually and non-sexually) by others. In the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and clinical depression. This need for belonging can often overcome the physiological and security needs, depending on the strength of the peer pressure; an anorexic, for example, may ignore the need to eat and the security of health for a feeling of control and belonging

4.     How the Social Contract is being applied by the UK Government

a.      Physiological Needs

At present, there does not appear to be any forward planning with regard to food shortages in the UK, although the problem clearly is starting to affect our society.

UK Foodbanks

There has been rapid growth in the provision of UK foodbanks since the financial crisis that began in 2007. Most UK food banks are co-ordinated by The Trussell Trust , a Christian charity based in Salisbury which serves as the UK’s only food bank network. Trusell’s first food bank was established in 2000; in 2004 they only ran two. [15] [16] Before the financial crisis, food banks were “almost unheard of” in the UK. [17] [18] In 2007 / 2008 there were only 22 food banks in the Trusell network; by early 2011, Trussell supported 100. As of May 2012, they had 201. By August, 252. The rate of increase has been rising rapidly. In 2011, only about one new food bank was being opened per week. In early 2012, about two were being opened each week. By July, Trussell had reported that the rate of new openings had increased to three per week, and by August, four were being opened each week, with three new food banks being opened in that month for Nottingham alone. [19] [20] [21] [22] Demand for food banks is expected to increase even further when cuts to welfare come into effect in April 2013; several councils have began looking at funding foodbanks to increase their capability, as cuts to their budgets mean they’ll be less able to help vulnerable people directly. [23]

Most UK foodbanks are hosted by churches. About a third of their food comes from supermarkets, with much of it donated by individuals. Trussell Trust aims to provide short term support for people whose needs have not yet been addressed by official state welfare provision; those who have been ‘falling into the cracks in the system’. The Trussell franchise has procedures which aim to prevent long term dependency on their services, and to ensure that those in need are referred to qualified outside agencies. The charity suggests that the credit crunch caused an upsurge in the number of people needing emergency food. Since 2010, demand for foodbanks continued to increase, and at a more rapid rate, partly as austerity began to take effect, and partly as those on low incomes began to draw down savings and run out of friends they of whom they are willing to request support from. Unlike soup kitchens [24], most UK food banks are unable to help people who come in off the street without a referral – instead they operate with a referral system. Vouchers are handed out to those in need by various sorts of professional, such as Social workers, health workers and housing officials. The voucher can typically be exchanged at the food bank for a package of food sufficient to last three days. A small number of foodbanks have been set up outside of the Trussell system, in part as they dont like having to turn away folk without referrals. [19] [25] [26] [20] [21] [15]

People who turn to food banks are typically grateful both for the food and for the warmth and kindness they receive from the volunteers. However sometimes food banks have ran out of suppliers by the time they arrive. Some find it humiliating to have to ask for food, and that the packages they receive dont always seem nutritious. Some food banks have tried to respond with innovative programmes; London street food bank for example has began asking donors to send in supermarket vouchers so that those they serve will be able to choose food that best meets their nutritional needs. Britain’s prime Minister David Cameron has welcomed the efforts of food banks; Caroline Spelman , his Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, has described food banks as an “excellent example” of active citizenship. Labour MP Kate Green has a different view, feeling that the rise of food banks reflects folk being let down by the State Welfare system, saying “I feel a real burning anger about them … People are very distressed at having to ask for food; it’s humiliating and distressing.””

At present, the UK Government appears to be relying upon charity to meet the most fundamental human need of all; food. Whether this policy meets the criteria of social responsibility in a time of crisis remains to be seen but given current forecasts by the World Bank, if there are no government-led responses to these issues soon, it is likely to be failing in it’s duty to the public it was elected to serve.

We can also add a housing shortage and soaring energy costs to the list British people’s physiological needs.

Without food or, in a climate like ours, shelter and warmth then we can reasonably expect people to die. Whether this consequence is already occurring is a matter that needs to be examined by those involved.

b.      Security Needs

The impact of shortages upon peoples’ physiological needs have a direct consequence upon the security of society. Food shortages are known to result in food riots and such events have already been predicted for the UK. An absence of socially responsible initiatives from government is likely to contribute towards such unrest.

When riots occur, as they already have, a healthy government and public would look to the police in containing the immediate problem and restoring public safety. Given the present unrelenting political pressure in favour of privatising Britain’s police services and the already implemented reduction of publicly-funded front line staff, it might be worth considering whether the police are actually capable of meeting this expectation anymore. If we listen to the police, they are raising these concerns themselves. A further concern to the public would be whom this privatised police force would serve especially as some elected officials, in other parts of the world, have openly referred to the police as ‘their private army’.

Further, the demand for health services arising from the failure to meet basic physiological needs is also likely to occur. This is will be happening at a time when the National Health Service is also being subject to unrelenting political pressure to privatise too. If we listen to those involved, they are already reporting the consequences.

To this, we must add the following:

  • reductions in social welfare payments to the sick and disabled via ‘assessments’ utilising methods of questionable ethics .
  • requirements for the unemployed to work, without pay, in order to continue to be eligible for benefit payments. That profitable private industry is the recipient of this unpaid workforce also raises ethical questions regarding what is or is not in the public interest.

This is not an exhaustive list – many other issues have been left out – nor are the issues dealt with in depth because they have been very well addressed elsewhere. Clearly, even with these limitations, there is a very serious picture emerging about the factual condition of British society that is not being thoroughly addressed, as far as I can determine at present, by those whose responsibility it is to do so.

It is my opinion that one of the biggest obstacles to addressing the above is current party politics and this includes all the main political parties of the UK. These problems become much clearer when viewed from Maslow’s third hierarchical need.

c.       Love and Belonging

Each individual will have their own interpretation of the meaning of these terms. In social terms, however, this level of need refers to social inclusion and appreciation.

In the light of the above, it would be reasonable to conclude that social inclusion of all the UK population does not register high on our present Coalition government’s agenda. What is more disturbing is that those political parties whose public duty would be to act as a break to Coalition policy, or to act in opposition, have significantly failed to do so. By failing to act, it would also be reasonable to suppose that present government policies are a result of cross-party consensus. If this supposition is true, then the British people are facing a constitutional crisis alongside all the other crises now occurring.

5.     How this crisis has occurred

When faced with effectively managing this kind of crisis, all contributory factors have to be considered whilst trying to identify workable solutions.  Some factors, such as the food crisis, are beyond human control whereas others, like political agendas, remain firmly within it.

In my opinion, it seems that to all intents and purposes, the UK Coalition Government has chosen to abandon the general public interest at a time of great need. According to the MP’s Code of Conduct, this should not occur:

 

“Members shall base their conduct on a consideration of the public interest, avoid conflict between personal interest and the public interest and resolve any conflict between the two, at once, and in favour of the public interest.”

 

But given the impact of present government policies what is now regarded as ‘public interest’ does not appear to be especially inclusive , as the following links clearly show:

I would suggest that when MP’s apparently fail to adhere to the standards of the Members Code of Conduct, either individually or collectively, it inevitably follows that the public will suffer the kind of abuses to human needs outlined above. I would also suggest that failures to address the problem point to high levels of collusion amongst those empowered to call transgressors to account.

It is clear that those involved see no problem with their actions and have every intention of imposing further hardships upon those whose needs it refuses to recognise, as evidenced by the following tweet from one of the Government’s ‘think-tanks’, Policy Exchange.

Under this kind of aggressive thinking, unless or until the situation changes, ordinary people can no longer expect any realistic support from their government unless individual MP’s personally choose to place their constituents needs above those of their respective party’s policy. It can be noted that this is starting to occur but whether this marks a true change in political thinking remains to be seen.

If that change were to take root, there is already one strikingly successful solution that could be considered as an alternative to current UK policies.

6.     A Part of the Solution

 

These are all very serious issues that seem to be stuck for ideas when it comes to solutions.

Whilst there are undoubtedly questions to answer about who is responsible and what needs to be done to prevent this occurring in the future, the problem with such discussions is that they do not materially contribute to resolving the immediate problems we are facing. These need to be dealt with at local level. If my neighbour is starving, it is not my MP in Westminster who sees this, but me.

During the last eleven years, I have lived amongst the poor and excluded as one of them. What I have noticed are the high levels of unexpected creativity and practicality when these groups are asked to resolve problems affecting them directly. This can prove to be particularly successful when those involved are given the resources to do it. Such resources may have initial investment costs but these more than pay for themselves over the longer term. Unfortunately, many workable solutions that might be produced by the poor for the poor are likely to be disregarded or dismissed in favour of a form of accepted thinking that is demonstrably failing society elsewhere. The first issue that needs ‘unsticking’ is the belief that those currently labelled ‘undesirable’ or ‘excluded’ have nothing to offer a country in crisis.

The second issue that needs addressing is the assumption that the prevailing ‘Westminster’ view of society is the only opinion available. What may suit London and the South East does not suit other regions. Imposing Westminster solutions will inevitably fail if the region itself has different ideas. Enabling and resourcing regions to support their local communities on their own terms falls into the kind of investment described above. Such investment contributes to the local economy thereby reducing unemployment whilst, at the same time, creating needed social infrastructures tailored to met direct need. These are the politics of social inclusion.

Finally, there needs to be recognition that the private sector may well have something socially worthwhile to offer. Not all those working in the private sector are crooks and liars indeed some are already stepping forward to assist others. In addition, the private sector offers greater legal flexibility than the public. The public sector is only permitted to do that enshrined in law and no more. The private sector may do anything provided it is not prohibited in law. Were a private company to enshrine social and corporate responsibility as part of its operational practice, it may well be able to meet community needs above and beyond the ability of the currently-structured public sector. Such companies have done well in the past so there is no reason to suppose they wouldn’t do well now.

Even in these straitened and increasingly difficult times, there are still opportunities for ordinary people to taken control of their immediate needs if they understand the chance is there and are willing to take the risk. All that is necessary is a change in thinking followed by a change in action.

What we can be certain of, given the evidence above, is that to continue to depend upon Government for solutions at this present time may to prove very hazardous to the life, health and safety of society. Given the impending global famine, it is also likely to be true that the time for discussion is rapidly coming to an end.

These are the problems I can identify with any clarity. The true extent of the problem is far greater and is affecting everyone. Nevertheless, I hope you have enough information now to arrive at your own educated answer to my opening question.

The Diamonds of Darkness

The very best form of learning is experiential because the lesson is taught on many different dimensions. It follows that the very best teachers work experientially. The thing to remember is that that the lessons come from life itself. They arise from our aliveness and the only difference between the teacher and the student is the teacher has more experience.

Yesterday, some friends helped create such a lesson. You can find it here. As an example of the Gestalt Cycle, it is perfect – I have excluded an interruption that, in my opinion, sought to introject a ‘solution’ that did not fit the problem. I left it out because I’m tired and bored with the interrupters and to make a song-and-dance about such individuals is to divert attention from where it is needed. They are unneeded distractions. I have also excluded someone who supported me on the facts about financial poverty within the system we all find ourselves in. I’m grateful for their support but for this to work effectively I need to stand alone at the moment. We need to be able to see my mistakes and supporters can veil this aspect if we are not careful. This is a lesson. I am a teacher. I believe my lesson’s aim is to support the impoverished but if they can’t see where I’ve fucked up then we can’t correct my errors. In truth, both of those I’ve left out belong in the wider story – they are as much a part of the Gestalt as the participants but I don’t know them as well as the central characters.

This is a recapitulation of what occurred now that my personal Gestalt Cycle has completed itself. It was my Cycle so I’m discussing it from what I can see – how it interfaces with the other participants will be for them to decide.

The main charactors are my Egyptian friend, my Lightworker friend, an old Guardianista friend and me.

The teaching Cycle began an out-pouring of Self from my Egyptian friend. If I have my facts straight, nag0ul took such an active role in his country’s ‘Arab Spring’ that he was arrested and detained at one point. Certainly, now, he is under 24 hour surveillance in a country that is ruled by a military that sees no problem in killing its citizens when they protest, supported by lawyers that permits them to get away with murder. No-one in the Egyptian hierarchy has been brought to account for the deaths of protesters and it looks like no-one will. So, my Egyptian friend knows he is facing retribution of some sort whatever hue of government takes power. Therefore, his initial outpouring is totally understandable.

I stopped trying to interrupt his Cycle of Experience (none of us are exempt from this mistake!) when I remembered my own outpourings whilst I was a prisoner. He was in a place of deep transformation where existing internal psychic structures collapse and he describes this process extremely well. From my own experience, this is a deeply painful process of disappointment and there is really nothing anyone can do except keep them company. It is a long and hard fall from Hope to Despair, and it takes just about everything we believe in with it. In the Tarot, this is the card of the Tower. In Astrology, this is the action of Pluto.

This Fall takes us over the boundary of Death. It may not result in physical death, although it can and it may not be our own death that triggers the process. If we live, what dies are the assumptions we have structured out lives upon and someone in the throes of the Fall can take our own assumptions with them.

As my Egyptian friend ‘fell’, and with my own grief triggered by Father’s Day, the pain I was holding became too much. Politically and personally, I am close to ground zero at present and aware that I may be facing a move to its epicentre. This is not a new experience for me. My Father’s death initiated my own ‘first fall’ and subsequent events collapsed my life until I was transformed into an undesirable, unemployable exile in my own country. Whilst my experiences are my own and cannot be compared with nag0ul’s, the pattern of energy is the same. A fall from Life to Death holds the same archetype wherever it is played out and the results are the ashes of despair. Those bearing witness are liable to feel fear of their own fall, especially if they have not experienced this for themselves.

What is most important to remember here is that, like the Phoenix, ashes are not the end of the story. The collapsing structures represent outdated power; when the Tower is dust, so energy previously locked within is freed to create in new ways… but only if the environment allows it. The energy of Pluto is Life-Death-Life – it does not end with death.

My first experience of Death was also my first experience of Grief. Grief is a trauma. As the roots of the Greek word for trauma suggest – grief pierces our ego-structures and breaks our heart open to greater Love. It has to be Love because only that power can cause us to grieve when it is ‘gone’. A deep wound to Love creates intense vulnerability which can only be healed with kindness, patience, compassion, understanding and time, as anyone who has experienced grief will tell you. The problem grieving people have is that we live in a world where all those qualities are in very short supply. So when vulnerable people are subjected to cruelty, impatience, heartlessness, deliberate incomprehension and no time, it will trigger feelings of deep rage. This is what occurred with the Arab Spring. This is what is occurring elsewhere across our planet.

Frequently, those experiencing this process transform into activists. We see the ‘wrong’ and start to do something about it. Our choices and actions begin to create new structures within us, just as the Plutonic energy intends. However, those of us who have become activists over the past few years are constantly facing an opposition hell-bent on keeping us imprisoned within their old and collapsing paradigms. To my eyes, they appear criminally insane and my own rage at this situation erupted into the Twittersphere, triggered by grief and activated by my friend’s despair.

This is a powerful dynamic of an energy seeking to evolve. My new friend, Adam, mistook it to begin with until I was able to explain what was occurring using the Laws of Grief. The first Law of Grief is Respect. If the energies being expressed by the mourner are fundamentally healthy, then they demand respect, even if their appearance is initially alarming or disturbing. If witnesses cannot offer respect, they are likely to be shot down by the emerging Rage – as one person was by me. On the other hand, if respect is established – as it was with Adam – then the rage can begin a second transformation into Passion. Rage is no longer required because the energy is being heard. What emerges is the information needed to build new and healthy structures from the ashes of the old. This process is apparent in my personal Storify.

It is these new energies that Activists seek to support and develop. My passionate rage was rooted in the relentless attacks these individuals can be subject to, both collectively and individually. Whilst I might agree that new energies, if still ‘infected’ by old memes, may need to be continually dismantled until we arrive at a healthy structure there comes a point when it is plain that the destructive forces being applied are downright malevolent. So whilst I may have been enabled to move out of the Death-stage yesterday, I am under no illusions that the political forces in my country won’t attempt to send me back there. In my own Self, I am certain I’d prefer to be dead than to consent to this. The suicide levels in the West suggest that I am not alone in this. That this suits the NWO is beyond any doubt because they would be acting to prevent this if it didn’t – instead they are heaping more of the same upon those they purport to ‘govern’. The System is waging war on its own people. Activists understand this and do something about it but they are not superhuman. We need to remember and give to the grieving what they need to evolve. Sitting back and doing little or nothing is to deprive them of support when it is needed most. Support can be as little as a retweet or as much as your heart prompts you to give.

One aspect of my Gestalt Cycle was the issue of financial poverty. In a world filled with envy, this subject becomes booby-trapped, so I make no claims to be ‘right’ with this aspect. I will simply say what I see.  What needs to be remembered here is that the vast majority of Activists are financially impoverished. What they achieve is done with so few material resources that the shaman-in-me starts talking about miracles. Those who benefit from their actions are frequently poor too. The question that always arises in me is “what might they be able to achieve if they actually did have resources?” This is then tempered with Sufi wisdom that teaches when financial assistance is absent, people find out what they are genuinely capable of in a spiritual sense. Clear answers elude me and I have to fall back to trusting that the greater Power of Love knows what it is about far better than I do and I surrender.

This story is still unfolding. In my experience, each time we are felled by the pressures of the old and have to walk through our own darkness, we collect diamonds of wisdom along the way. These are the diamonds I collected yesterday. In sharing them, I hope they may inspire new activists and resources for existing ones, however those resources might manifest. The only thing I can be certain of is that the other participants in my story will know things I don’t either because I’ve made a mistake or I’ve misunderstood what I am looking at. But I will only find out by sharing what I know.

“The Guardian” newspaper is a part of my personal and social heritage as someone who was raised a socialist. It never really was a socialist paper – more soft liberal – but for the intelligentsia who couldn’t bring themselves to read “The Morning Star”, the Graundiad was a passable choice. Not anymore.

To read the Guardian now is to understand that there are some very fine journalists working there. They report stuff like this – in good detail and fine attention. I have no doubt that there are many good and fine people working for the paper too. I have no argument with them. My argument is with whoever is making the decisions that other staff have to carry out.

I have an ‘old’ account with the Grauniad (bearing in mind I have only been ‘back’ on the net for a year or so). Today I logged on to take part in this:-

My late father would have been tickled to bits with my score, especially if I could tell him that on some questions I guessed when I didn’t know. Even I was pleased with how I did and I am my worst critic. So the Guardian comment beneath my score prompted this reply:-

This is not the Guardian website I knew less than a year ago, let alone the paper my family paid good money for for over more than forty years.

There is a rule I need to apply to myself here – Do not criticise without proposing a solution. Because I prefer people to make up their own minds and use their own imagination, I make no proposals. I will simply share this because I have already acted.

On twitter, I’m called a global Citizen – I accept that responsibility. I am called a friend – I accept that privilege. I continue to call myself a shaman in the face of derision and oblivion curses because I’m still here after all their attempts to destroy me. And I’ve just been given a job by people who set very high standards. I am posting this for them only because I prefer to be elected rather than chosen. Otherwise , I am honoured and seek to comfirm my worth and their opinion. I know the importance of being valued (see last paragraph). You can find us here #ATL.

I never want to let down those who choose or trust me because that kind of respect is so hard-won and it comes only from those who work hard to be honest. We need to value each other for who we are, especially when we are different. The Guardian used to do that for everyone but it appears to have suffered a failure of courage – no comments on a Comment Cartoon anymore? Cartoonists getting too close to the bone to allow people to speak?

So I say this because I believe it falls under the law of “Fair comment”.

When Rage Becomes Passion – I’m back on a ‘Roll’ again!

When rage first surfaces, in ourselves or in others, it frequently arrives ‘undifferentiated’. Since this particular rage is deeply Female, this is a rage that is part #AppallingPMT #RagingScold  #TheFaceOfKali #TheUntamedShrew and a whole bundle of other descriptions that pretty much describe the same thing. What we need to remember, when this happens to us either as actor or participant, is that the Feminine Voice you are hearing/seeing/experiencing belongs to a woman who has been subjected to prolonged abuse of every conceivable description and a good deal more that good men can’t conceive of unless they are involved with Law enforcement. If you give an erupting woman as much space as she needs, she will eventually do something that will break your heart open to the deepest compassion. You will have an experience of deep empathy.

This empathic experience will mean that you find yourself sharing the experience of deep rage yourself. There is no need to fear this. All that matters is that your rage is trusted and respected for what it is, particularly when you find yourself being unreasonable or being accused of being unreasonable. Passion has Her Own Reason; remember this.

One of my Passions is a passion for Good Law. I see no good law occurring at the ‘top’ in my county and I am watching their corruption trying to seep into the valley of my home. I am sick to the back teeth of their lies and cruelty. I think a large part of our Parliament is psychopathic or under psychopathic influence and they are in full gear to head us into a very English form of the Third Reich. Scotland and Wales have already bailed out. If I have anything to do with it, the neglected North of England will tell Westminster to take a hike too if things don’t change. Our society is sick enough as it is – we don’t need to get any sicker.

I want to say to our trade unions that it’s time to cut the Labour arm off – it’s rotten to the core and has already threatened your members by its inaction and lack of parliamentary support. That’s called ‘gross misconduct’ and is a sackable offence. I’d like you to consider looking around for some of our radical liberals – the kind that, if elected, would renationalise everything starting with the banks. Let them stand as Independents, so they can’t be ‘whipped’. The public services belong to the public – it’s time we took what is ours back from this #AxisOfGreed. We could tell the one percent that they’ve had their feed and, in the light of their behaviour, there’s no compensation unless the workers at the bottom speak up for the people at the top. That ought to sort the swans from the geese.

You see, once we move beyond our first explosion,  the deep passion, the deep rage we found in ourselves or saw in another, does become ‘unreasonable’ in the face of ‘insanity’. Deep rage and deep Passion have their own reasons and those reasons belong to the Law. This is the deep Passion of the overturned money-lenders tables. The Passion that fired the Prophet and it is the Passion of the Feminine. This is the Fury of the Mother protecting her young. It is the Con-Dar. This is an Honourable Fury against a foe that has declared open warfare on the women of this planet.

Remember those who told you that you were being unreasonable? Those people are the problem. We are on a war footing and the weapon we use is the force of Good Law, whether that law be medical, military or civilian. The test of insanity is denying there is a problem when it is plain to those who are qualifiedly sane that there is an extremely serious problem and the source is the denier themselves. Under such circumstances, I would doubt that many of our senior politicians are actually fit to stand trial for their genocidal policies.

When the old ways are corrupted, our rage cuts through the crap and gets to the quick of the matter. No, what I say won’t be comfortable for some people to hear but, hey, we are all in this together and war changes everything. We have a pissed-off military. We have a pissed-off police force. We have pissed-off prison officers. These people – the good ones – are not folk it is wise to piss off. We’ve had our public services too long to stand by and watch these carpet-baggers steal from us again. No, our services are not perfect but then neither are you. One thing I can guarantee you, however, is that whatever privatised service these #Reptiles have in mind for us will be a whole lot worse. I don’t have a problem with staff being paid a decent wage or having a good pension – my problem is that I think everyone else should have it too. Perhaps some people need reminding that selfish behaviour is anti-social. And anyone who thinks everyone ought to be the same is going to have a major problem with me now because I am who I am and want no part of any society that can’t accommodate that.

I’m tired of being told I have no worth. I’m tired that my limited means come through a system that hates me and I’m sick to the back teeth of those who have the power to do something about it allowing this obscenity we are being forced to live to continue.

If we are at war – and it certainly looks as though the British Government and its Institutions have declared war on the British people (Wales and Scotland need to deal with their versions of this). I believe that might be called Treason which, if my memory of Good Law serves me, is a crime that might still be punishable by death.

Men reading this who are having trouble getting to grips with understanding this are invited to talk to intelligent women friends. Go have a look at who is being singled out for ‘Special Treatment’ in this War on Women. And finally, because I am sick of this behaviour from some of you, you can get off your egos and help us by organising. You can stick your hand in your pocket and make a contribution, especially if you’ve been fiddling your taxes. Who do we really trust with money – our money? I want a Women’s Bank – the evidence is overwhelming that when good women are helped, the whole society improves. Didn’t you realise that’s why they hate us? We are the living proof of their lies. That’s why they war on us! Gentlemen, this is no way to treat a Goddess or Her Daughters and we are furious.

Good men do not stand by and do nothing when there’s a war on.

Welcome to The Asylum

Just lost your rag with the world? Ready to chew out your partner/friend/family/colleagues/people in general? Just on the edge of getting yourself in real trouble? Welcome to The Asylum.

This establishment presently exists only in my imagination and I am its proprietor. It’s a bar (or pub, in English). Decorate it how you want. If you don’t drink, the bongs are in the back where the sofas are (you’ll have to negotiate with the cats – there are a lot of them and they know they own the joint). If you’re hungry, we serve your favourites or food that’s just about to become your favourite. Want music – check out the back room – that’s where the musicians hang out. The artists are out in the yard painting infinity. The comedians are all in the main bar! And if, after you’ve blown your stack, you need healing, ring the bell on the table at the bottom of the stairs. The local healers have rooms upstairs – they’ll fix you up. They’re good at what they do – only the best in my establishment.

The woman you see behind the bar is me. I’m a veteran of all the crap that’s just sent you off on one. Most of the regulars you find here are the same. If you need to explode, go ahead… we’ve all been there. No-one is going to be offended if you tell it as you see it. In fact, when one of our regulars loses it, we normally learn something useful that we can do something about.

For example – after learning how the ‘Dividers’ fucked with her clientele, this proprietor had a word with the local coven. Now The Asylum has a spell on it. So if you’re someone who has a problem with other people’s differences, you’re going to find yourself getting real uncomfortable. Take a look around – there’s all colours of the skin rainbow in here; there’s all shades of spirituality; all hues of human expression; all the chords of culture. We keep adding to the place when more of our ‘Differents’ turn up and erupt. So, if you know someone who might make the place even more different than it already is and they’re erupting, point ‘em in our direction. We got time for folk like that.

Don’t like this place? Tough. Fuck off someplace else and create your own establishment. The Asylum is obviously not meant for you and you’ll do yourself a favour by leaving under your own steam before a few of us throw you out.

Oh, that’s not a very nice thing to say, huh? Well, see, here we don’t do nice. We ‘do’ bad; we ‘do’ good, but we don’t do ‘nice’. We ‘do’ honesty and we do ‘Truth’ (when we can agree on it, otherwise we stick to ‘personal truth’) and our experiences with the ‘Dividers’ have made us dangerous. You really don’t want to piss off the clientele you see around you because they’re all out of patience, tolerance or understanding for anyone who thinks they can come in here and tell us how to live our lives. This is my bar and I’m all out of patience, etc, too. Numbnuts don’t last long around here.

The Asylum is the place where us veterans come to relax and do dumb shit stuff that makes us laugh – like the lolcat gallery our local Egyptian keeps updating on the wall over there. Sometimes folk arrive to talk about what they are learning – that’s what the large group of women ‘occupying’ over there are doing now. Woe betide anyone who thinks they can mess with those Wyrrd Sistas – the men don’t like it, frequently before the women realise they don’t either. You really don’t want to piss off the men in this joint.

So now you know – them’s the rules of the House. As I said, you don’t like them you can leave.

On the other hand, if this sounds like your kind of place, pull up a chair and what will you be having?

Watch the cats. One of them will do something funny on your wavelength that will crack any ice between us. Or if you need to be alone, try the back porch. Somehow it always manages to create a space for those who need time to be with the Universe – when you’re ready for company, someone will turn up with whatever attitude you need to help you out of the hole you’re in. Don’t ask me how it works – it just does. The Asylum does what it says on the tin when we keep to the house rules of Respect. Me? I just run the place.

Are you tired – like deep-down DNA-bone-tired? We all are. It’s what makes us cranky and bad-tempered out there in the world because we are dealing with muppets and numbnuts all the time. They really do ‘do your head in’! Now the twats in control are tearing our hearts out. In this place, we are way past the Fuck-It-Point. We may not have answers to our problems yet but we can sit and bitch about it. We can air our cynicism, rinse out our hopelessness, come to our senses and find out, amongst all our differences, exactly what we have in common. And when you’ve come to the end of everything you have, there’s a room upstairs with your name on it where you can crash. It’s no Hilton, but it’s clean, comfortable and you’ll get a good night’s sleep. Just a word of warning – if you leave the bottom half of the window open, the cats will get in and join you. Of course, you might like that and it’s for-sure that the cats will. Oh, you have a dog? If the dog knows how to get along with cats, no problem and if not, then the dog is going to be learning some whole new stuff. Same goes for all of Nature’s criaturas here – we get to see some remarkable things as a result.

Oh, and by the way, if there’s someone in the bar you really don’t understand, don’t worry about it. One of the regulars will and they’ll introduce you. Enjoy yourself. The Asylum is an off-duty place. If you’re in need of some human loving, bear in mind that those you might be told were ‘whores’ in TwatWorld are actually priests and priestesses in this part of town. They’re regarded as sacred in The Asylum which means you need to be real grateful if they offer human loving to you because they bring healing with their loving. Everyone gets treated with respect around here, especially them and especially the children, if they turn up. Most of the children think this stuff is boring so they don’t come in here much if we’re griping – they’ve got real interesting stuff to do… like imagining the future. If we all start laughing though, they turn up just to find out what’s funny.

So it only exists in my imagination at the moment? Well, rumour has it that a bunch of Anonymiss have booked the Webroom downstairs and some of our regulars suspect they’re going to create The Asylum in cyberspace… but you never know for certain with them. #Anonymous ideas run around creating all kinds of new places in this dimension *wink*.

Don’t worry yourself about all the scarey stuff I threw at you earlier – that’s simply to keep the muppets out. There’s always something that will piss them off and give them away. By the time you’ve reached this part of my ‘welcome’, you’re in.

So, do you have everything you need? Herbal tea? Coffee? Bourbon? Want me to send a bong over? Have you eaten? Want company? Need to be alone? It’s up to you. This is your imagination linkin’ up with mine, so you get decide what’s right for you while you’re off-duty.

All of us know we will head back into the fray once we’ve given ourselves some space to be who we really are – this place simply provides a place of respite and safety for us to be who we really are together. It helps!

Evolving the Global Heart/Mind – finding our way through the Labyrinth?

A couple of days ago, two friends raised concerns about our collective future in conversation. Both had intuitions that the ‘Forces of Darkness’ were preparing for another assault on the Heart/Mind/Soul of humanity and one was looking for a way of identifying the dark ones. What interested me was the sense of powerlessness that seemed to accompany their comments – as though they couldn’t see a way past the problems they were identifying. If we cannot even envisage solutions, then we are unlikely to be able to navigate our way through problems when they do arise.

This is not being written to provide answers as such, but to provide examples of how I use my own imagination to shift my perspective beyond a ‘powerless’ reaction to a place where I can mindfully respond when the shit hits the fan.

The Dark Powers: The Wetiko Virus

 There is now a lot of information about people who exhibit attitudes and behaviour that can loosely be described as ‘Dark’. An internet surfer need only search for information about psychopaths to be served up a smorgasbord of detail. One of the best, if you prefer a shortish introduction, is “Defence against the Psychopath” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgGyvxqYSbE which details the known behaviour patterns of those subject to the ‘disorder’ and the impact they have on those unfortunate enough to find themselves sucked into a psychopathic orbit.

In my opinion, there is a problem with this kind of labelling – as anyone who has been labelled can tell you – it limits thought processes to the definition of the tag and to what each of us understands that tag to mean. The general public understanding of psychopathy tends to the swivel-eyed murder depicted in the mainstream media but this is a very limited viewpoint that, ultimately, is only realistically beneficial to the psychopath themselves. Psychopathy is a much broader subject that affects everyone, regardless of any social distinction.

A far more helpful approach is that understood by the Cree Tribe of Indigenous American First Peoples who call the problem we face the “Wetiko Virus”. A detailed understanding of what is meant by this psychological viral infection of humanity is detailed here:

The reason I believe this Wetiko approach valuable is because the theory recognises that we are all inflected, to varying degrees. By utilising this approach, the responsibility for finding a resolution falls directly upon each and every one of us – we cannot escape personal responsibility because, if we are all infected, then each one of us has the power to deal with the problems we ourselves are creating, provided we are willing to take up the challenge.

The symptoms of the Wetiko Virus, much like psychopathy, operate from an egocentric, selfish, greedy perspective lacking in empathy, compassion or self-reflection. By seeing the problem as viral rather than genetic (a viewpoint beginning to be favoured by some), we can all participate in arriving at a solution rather than seeing it as someone else’s problem, a symptom of Wetiko.

This is the information I draw upon in order to start understanding what the problems are and who they may belong to, always starting with me, in the hope that eventually I might be able to spot them coming. As Carl Jung stated; “If there is a problem with society, there is a problem with the people who make up that society; and if there is a problem with the people who make up that society, then there is a problem with me.”

Human Beings: The Balance between Light and Dark

No authentic human being is pure Light whilst we are incarnated. To be incarnated is to be living on the edge of balance, whoever we are. It may be the balance of the ecology we live in; the balance of gender; the balance of difference. Presently, we are born into a world that is deeply out of balance and it becomes our personal responsibility, by the making of our own choices, that determines whether we remain out of balance or whether we make the effort to change, grow or evolve.

If, as I do, we accept the premise that western ‘civilisation’ is manifesting  severe symptoms of Wetiko infection, then our first task, as responsible planetary citizens, is to embark on a personal exploration of how we are ourselves affected. Because Wetiko is a shape-shifting virus so, too, will be our own symptoms. Given that the intent of practising Wetikos is the ultimate destruction of their prey, at their convenience, one of the areas worth exploring is where we become “petrified” into non-action. The interruptions to the Gestalt Cycle of Experience give therapeutic clues as to how these interruptions can manifest within us. For example: do we reach for what we’ve been told in order to avoid taking action on our own behalf (Introjection)? Do we blame someone else for our problems(Projection)? Do we prefer to sacrifice our individuality in favour of ‘belonging’ (Confluence)?

To find the balance between our internal Light and Wetiko-free Darkness is a task of many lifetimes and is a process of constant self-reflection to root out any deeper toxicity regardless of how consciously unintended the results of our actions may have been. Our levels of infection are always measured in the results of our actions… or inactions. The healthy darkness is a mystery because it is unconscious until it makes itself known. I suspect this is what the American First Peoples mean by the “Great Mystery”. Out of this Dark Womb come inspiration, creativity and the most surprising answers to our problems, once it is clean enough. Uncleaned, we are likely to replicate any Wetiko infection we are subject to.

This is the personal level of work. The next dimension contains the problems we face at global levels – the global infection of our social systems by the Wetiko virus.  How do we, as individuals, tackle this problem?

 

The Global Mind and Evolution

The way I have found through this minefield that seems to be most effective is to grow my personal awareness to a global level as best I can. I cease to be this or that label or nationality and become a living entity dwelling upon a far greater living entity – our planet.

The Wekito mindset is divisive. It divides us into races, genders, nationalities, tribes, castes/classes, etc. To grow a global mind is to move beyond such divisiveness to greater inclusion. If we are capable of conscious breathing, bleeding, life then we belong on this planet – we are included because we exist. But, then, so do the Wetikos. Why, then, might a planet like ours evolve such an energy? What purpose could it serve?

The most interesting answer I have found is this one:-

“Our unconscious, knee-jerk reactivity is the primary way that the wetiko psychosis regenerates and propagates itself in the field. Like a pathogen invading a body, this virulent psychic bug strikes and hooks us through our weakest point in the unconscious, the tenderest and most vulnerable spot within ourselves through which we are most likely to re-act.

Wetiko is like a psychic nautilus machine that is continually ‘working’ us.

Humanity’s highest virtues are called upon when we are confronted by evil. Encoded within the evil of the wetiko virus is its own psychic vaccine, a potential inoculation against our own ignorance and laziness, which if not overcome, will overcome us. The wetiko bug’s existence requires us to strengthen our muscle of discernment. The virus demands that we cultivate impeccability within ourselves, or we don’t stand a chance.

Wetiko literally demands that we step into our power and become resistant to its oppression such that we discover how to step out of bondage and become free, or else! Instead of a typical virus mutating so as to become resistant to our attempts at healing it, the wetiko virus forces us to mutate relative to it. It is as though the evil of wetiko is itself the instrument of a higher intelligence.”

The notion that Wetikos/Psychopaths are our route to evolution is a very potent idea. It transforms problems into teachers of what we are and are-not ourselves. Any and all lessons learnt point the way to a greater potential collective resolution, remembering that any solution will require us to do something about ourselves and our behaviour first. Evolution is a personal issue and a choice that each and every one us must make on our own and in our own way. However, if we have chosen; if we have worked, or begun to work, on our self-awareness; and if we have come to our own experience of the Global Heart/Mind/Soul, then it becomes our responsibility to share what we know as freely as possible. What we know may only be ‘right’ for ourselves but our unique perspective drawn from our unique experience may open doors of understanding and perception in others, so that they might develop their own global perspective.

I would reiterate here, these are simply my answers to the questions raised; my way of thinking outside the Wetiko Virus box. These are offered as a contribution towards a collective solution, not answers in an of themselves.

 

Listening to our Intuition & Coping with Global Shock

The intuition of my friends is saying that the energies forming at the moment include another Act of Darkness emanating from the Wetiko-infected global system. The events of 9/11 offer a flavour of the impact such a global Act would have. Anyone who understands “The Shock Doctrine” of Naomi Klein will know that the spiritual/social/emotional/physical impact of such Acts is wholly and entirely intentional on the part of the perpetrators. The purpose is to render people ‘petrified’ by shock whilst the Wetiko system furthers its agenda.

We cannot insulate ourselves from this – it is simply not possible unless we are full-blown Wetikos. What we can do, as sensitive, intelligent and heart-based people, is refuse to be disabled by it. If the Wetiko Virus is a spur to human evolution, then together we must look for ways to evolve our way out of the intended destruction. We can see this occurring within various freedom movements globally, where brutal repression by various national and international Wetiko-based systems are either catalysing resistance amongst people or heightening infection in others. For those who are choosing to be awakened, the best advice I have encountered for this moment of potential comes from the I Ching.

Hexagram 51 deals with Shock, also called “The Arousing”. Line 3 of this hexagram speaks of the kind of shock created by events like 9/11:

Shock that makes one crazed with grief. Be spurred to inner action. No blame.

At times when one suffers the external shock of fate, one’s presence of mind may be easily lost. One must not let fate take its course; nor overlook the opportunity for action. Let the shock induce movement within so that one may overcome such blows. Become equal to the shock.”

If the ‘evil’ my friends sense swirling into manifestation is about to create another global-level shock in order to force humanity into obedience, then the I-Ching is suggesting that we need to evolve ourselves to a global mind/heart/soul-set in order to become equal to it.

Given that we, as human beings, have already survived thus far in a profoundly unequal and sick system, to simply become equal to a global Wetiko Virus shock is a clear indicator of evolution. In understanding this, perhaps it will empower us to use our fear to mobilise, rather than devolve into the petrification we have experienced until now – we can use our fear to spur us forward into further growth.

If that isn’t evolution, then I don’t know what is.
